How do I train my dog to use the stairs?

Put them exactly where your dog already tries to jump. Lure them up one step at a time with a treat and praise at the top, then do the same coming down, going down is the part most dogs need help with. Use them every single time they go up or down; consistency matters.

Will they reach my bed?

Measure from the floor to the top of your cushion or mattress, then pick the size that gets close to it. The 3-step stands 15.4″ and suits low sofas and chairs; the 4-step stands 19.7″ and suits most sofas and standard beds; the 5-step stands 24″ for taller beds and higher furniture. She can manage a few inches above the top step, much beyond that and a ramp is the better fit.

Can I wash the cover?

What size dog is it for?

A note from the workshop

We built these because of the dachshunds.

Henley & Bone started with a ramp for a 15-year-old golden with stiff hips. Then the letters started arriving, and so many of them were the same letter: a dachshund, a vet appointment, the word IVDD, and an owner who had just been told to stop the jumping, with no idea how you actually do that in a real house, with a real sofa, and a dog who has slept next to you every night of her life.

So we made these for them. Deep, cushioned steps low enough for the shortest legs, at least 15.7 inches wide so a long body has room to climb straight, a non-slip corduroy cover for tentative claws, and a firm high-density core that holds its shape instead of folding under her.
