Product description

A ramp that disappears into your living room. The Henley 2-in-1 gives small dogs, senior dogs and cats a gentle, low-impact way onto the sofa or bed — then folds back together into an upholstered ottoman when it's not in use.

Why owners love it

  • Gentle on joints and backs — a smooth incline instead of jumping, ideal for seniors, short-legged breeds and dogs prone to back issues.
  • Two pieces of furniture in one — open it out as a ramp, or close it up as an ottoman or entryway bench.
  • Sure-footed surface — a non-slip carpet surface runs the length of the climb, giving paws confident grip on the way up and, more importantly, on the way down.
  • Easy-care upholstery — a soft, leather-look finish that wipes clean and resists everyday dirt.
  • Solid wood frame — sturdy, freestanding construction that stays put.

Common questions

How high does it reach?

The top deck sits 16.5″ off the floor in ramp mode. Measure from your floor to the top of your seat cushion and compare the two. Under about 16″ and she walks straight across; between 16″ and 18″ there is a short step at the top.

How do I get her to use it?

Lure her up with a treat the first few times and walk beside her on the way down, which is the part worth teaching. Use it every trip rather than lifting her sometimes, because consistency is most of it.

What size dog is it for?

Small dogs and cats. The running surface is 15.7″ wide, and that width is the practical limit. For a larger dog, the adjustable Henley ramp carries up to 132 lb on a wider deck. See the ramp →

Does it need assembly?

None. It arrives built. Lift it out of the box, draw the ramp section out of the body, and set it against your furniture.

Why it matters

The Climb Is Effort. The Landing Is Impact.

Going up is work. Coming down is her whole body weight arriving at once, on joints that have already done it a few thousand times.

A slope asks less than a jump

A gentle incline lets her walk down under her own control instead of dropping. That matters most for seniors with stiff hips, short-legged breeds, and dogs still rebuilding after surgery.

The problem with most ramps

They work, and they look like equipment. A carpeted board propped against the sofa is the kind of thing you move before guests arrive, and a ramp in the spare room is a ramp she is not using.

So this one folds up

Closed, it is an upholstered ottoman, the sort of thing you would put beside the sofa anyway. It stays in the room, which means it stays available to her.

She gets the way down. You keep your living room.

Two modes

One piece of furniture. Open it when she needs it.

The same wooden frame and the same wipe-clean upholstery either way. The only thing that changes is whether the ramp is out.

16.5″

Ramp mode

16.5″ at the top

31.5″ long × 15.7″ wide

Pulled open, the carpeted slope runs from the floor up to the top deck. Suits lower sofas, armchairs and low bed frames.

18.9″

Ottoman mode

18.9″ tall

15.7″ long × 15.7″ wide

Closed, the ramp tucks into the body and it reads as a footstool or an entryway bench. It takes up about a square foot and a half of floor.

Will it reach your furniture

Measure from the floor to the top of your seat cushion, then compare it with the 16.5″ top deck. This is a one-height ramp, so that number is the whole decision.

Under 16″

A comfortable fit. Low sofas, armchairs and low platform beds. The top deck sits level with or just above the cushion, so she walks across rather than steps up.

16″ – 18″

Works, with a short step at the top. Pushed flush against the frame, the deck lands within an inch or two of the seat. Most dogs take that stride without thinking about it.

Over 18″

Worth being straight about: the deck tops out at 16.5″, so on a tall bed she would still have a real step left to make. If that is your furniture, the adjustable Henley ramp reaches 22″ and is the better tool. See the ramp →

For the car

This one is built to live in a room, not to travel. For a trunk or a tailgate, the foldable Henley ramp folds flat and carries in one hand. See the ramp →

Features and functionality

Built to be used, and to be looked at.

Safer

  • Non-slip carpet the length of the climb — grip where her paws land, going up and, more importantly, coming down
  • A gradual slope, not a step — she walks the descent under her own control instead of taking it all at once
  • Low entry at the floor end — the ramp starts almost flat, which is what matters for short legs and stiff hips

Smarter

  • Folds into an ottoman — closed, it is a 15.7″ upholstered footstool rather than a piece of pet equipment
  • Wipe-clean upholstered sides — a soft leather-look finish that takes a damp cloth and shrugs off everyday dirt
  • Earns its place in the room — which is the whole point: a ramp you leave out is a ramp she actually uses

Easier

  • No assembly, no hardware — it arrives built; you lift it out of the box and open it
  • About 12 lb — light enough to carry between rooms in one hand
  • Freestanding wood frame — four turned legs, so it stays where you put it instead of sliding under her
Common questions

Things people ask before they buy.

How high does it actually reach?

The top deck sits 16.5″ off the floor in ramp mode. Measure from your floor to the top of your seat cushion and compare the two numbers.

Under about 16″ and she walks straight across. Between 16″ and 18″ there is a short step at the top, which most dogs take without hesitating. Much above that and you want the adjustable ramp instead, which reaches 22″.

Will my dog actually use it?

Most dogs take to a ramp within a week or two, and plenty use it the first evening. Going up comes naturally; coming down is the part worth teaching.

Lure her up with a treat the first few times, walk beside her on the way down, and use it every trip rather than lifting her sometimes. Consistency is most of it. If she will not use it after a fair attempt, that is exactly what the guarantee is for.

How big a dog can use it?

It is built for small dogs and cats. The running surface is 15.7″ wide, and that width is the practical limit rather than the strength of the frame.

If you have a Labrador or a Shepherd, this is not the right ramp. The adjustable Henley ramp carries up to 132 lb on a wider deck and is the one to look at.

How do I keep it clean?

The sides are an upholstered leather-look finish that wipes down with a damp cloth. The carpet running surface takes a vacuum or a stiff brush.

The cover is not removable, so this is a wipe-clean piece rather than a machine-washable one.

Is there any assembly?

None. It arrives built. Lift it out of the box, draw the ramp section out of the body, and set it against your furniture.

What if it does not work out?

90 days to change your mind. If she will not use it, send it back for a full refund.

We pay return shipping. A prepaid label, a drop-off at UPS or FedEx, no restocking fee. Read the returns policy →

Pets sometimes need a few weeks to trust a new piece of furniture. We would rather you had the time to find out than felt rushed.

Set up & first week

Out of the box and in use the same afternoon.

Most dogs take to a ramp within a week or two. Some walk up it the first evening. A few need longer, and the 90-day comfort guarantee covers all of them.

1

Unbox and open it out

No assembly. Lift it out, draw the ramp section away from the body, and set the top deck against your sofa so the two meet flush.

2

Teach the way down

Going up is instinct. Coming down is the part worth teaching. Treat her at the bottom, walk beside her the first few times, and use the ramp every trip so it becomes the route rather than an option.

3

Fold it when company comes

Push the ramp back into the body and it is an ottoman again. Most owners stop bothering after a while, which is rather the point: it looks like furniture either way.

How it compares

Ramp, steps, or neither.

Three honest ways to take the jump out of her day. Which one suits you comes down to your furniture and your room.

The honest version: if your bed is tall or your dog is big, buy the adjustable ramp. If your sofa is low and you want the thing to disappear into the room, this is the one.

A note from the workshop

We kept hearing about the ramp in the spare room.

Henley & Bone started with a ramp for a 15-year-old golden with stiff hips. It worked. What we did not expect were the letters from people telling us, a little sheepishly, that theirs had ended up leaning against a wall down the hall because it did not suit the living room.

Which is a real problem rather than a vain one. A ramp she cannot reach is a ramp she does not use, and the jumping carries on regardless.

So we built one that earns its place in the room when it is closed. Upholstered sides, turned wooden legs, a footstool you would have bought anyway. Open it and the slope is there. That is the whole idea.
